Welcome to Our Team!!!
Note from Mrs. Lyle-Harlow
Dear Families, August 26, 2021
Let me tell you a little bit about myself since your child will be spending 175 days with me! I have been teaching at Brooks for 25 years. I have a BS in psychology from U of L and a Masters in Literacy from there as well. Yes, I am a big U of L fan, sorry Wildcat fans! I became a Hilltopper fan when I got my BA in education at Western Kentucky University. I have a National Board certification in Literacy and a certification in Reading Recovery.
My husband, Chuck, is a Navy veteran and is also a graduate of U of L . He works for the Post Office in Louisville. I have two wonderful sons. Alex is 29 and is a U of L alumni. He currently lives in Louisville and is working as a photographer. Kyle is 22 and is a senior in the Honors College at the University of Louisville. Both of my boys attended Brooks so my family has a strong connection to this school. We have a calico cat named Tippy who is the boss of our home.
I will work very hard to teach your child and in return, I expect your child to give me his or her best every day. This goal can be accomplished by your child coming to school (in person or virtually) on time every day with a positive attitude; completing all assignments, and putting forth good effort. Please know that your child will strive at school when s/he receives encouragement from their families.
I believe that all children can and want to learn. As a teacher, my main goal is to help your child be an independent, lifelong learner. To reach this goal, I will meet your child from where he/she is academically and socially and guide him/her as far as possible, planning very carefully so that your child can feel challenged without unnecessary frustration. Teaching children that their best efforts are essential when completing a task is another goal. I want your child to develop and maintain an "I can and will try" attitude. I feel this attitude enables success.
I hope that you feel like you know me a little better. You will find that I am easy to talk to, so please contact me on any concerns that you may have. The best way to reach me is through
DOJO. . The phone number at school is 869-2000.. You will also see a team newsletter every Monday on DOJO to keep you informed on what your child is doing at school.
Oh, one last thing, the kids may refer to me as Mrs. Lyle.
Let’s have a great year!
Gina Lyle-Harlow

Note from Ms. Zachery
Hello Third Grade Families,
My name is Madi Zachery and I am new to Third Grade this school year, but not new to Brooks. I was an Instructional Assistant last school year. This position allowed me to gain more experience and learn so much! I was born and raised in Bullitt County, and graduated from North Bullitt in 2015. I graduated from Georgetown College in 2019 with my Bachelors in Elementary Education, and a minor in Liberal Arts. I am a huge dog, coffee and lake lover. I have been with my boyfriend Kyle for 2 years now. We enjoy spending time with our families and friends. Looking forward to a wonderful year in Third Grade! Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
